Winter sucks

Thought I could get some
fish here in Saimaa canal .. but no ..
goddamn winter..

Wolf footprint in Karhusjärvi, Lappeenranta

This footprint was in the soft sand near
Karhusjärvi in Lappeenranta. Looks like
a wolf's footprint to me.

Tämä jalanjälki oli lähellä karhusjärveä Lappeenrannassa. Näyttäis ihan suden jäljeltä.

Lake Saimaa in Anttola, Mikkeli district

Spent some time in Anttola last summer..

The temperature was over 25 Celsius and no
clouds and also no wind whatsoever ..

Had to put extra clothes on to prevent burning
in the sun .. well .. it was awesome summer day
to say atleast..

Spent a week there in the summer.

Did a short sunday trip to Taipalsaari and Karvala river nature path.

The weather was nice and warm but somewhat stormy.

Luckily we were at the shelter when the thunderstorm broke just above us.
For some time it rained hard, hailstones too.

The nature path (and the river) was nothing special to come and see for just that purpose..
unless you have nothing better to do ..
The lean-to offered a nice grill to fry your sausages.. no complaints.

Got three pikes from Taipalsaari ..
fooled by Mepps . .
not real big but eatable ..

Going to smoke them tomorrow ..

Did an autopsy and found out that
they had eaten roach, vendace and bleak.

The Second Fly

A little variant of the first with same materials as in the first.
Made a tail instead of a wing.

The dubbing next to the head is gun metal or something similar in color.

First Self-Tied Fly

Well, it aint't pretty but it is the
first fly I have ever tied.

I let you know if I catch any fish with this ..

Body: Lead wire + Vision 'Mirror dubbing', Green + Yellow near the head
Body Finish: Silver Tinsel
